Chatter

Books get finished with friends.

And by talking to their characters.

A group that's reading the same book as you. With opinions, no spoilers (they're only ever one chapter ahead) and with permission to tell you the book's a slog and you should drop it.

MartaThree days stuck on chapter 7, seriously? That's exactly where it gets good.
NicoLeave them alone. Chapter 7 is a slog, Marta, admit it. The good stuff starts in 8.
MartaI'm admitting nothing. And we're telling you nothing about 8, so get moving.
hahaha fine, fine, I'm reading tonight
And it's not just the group

You can also talk to the book itself.

Every book has its own cast. Characters show up chapter by chapter, exactly as the reader meets them (zero spoilers) and you can ask them anything, in their own voice.

ElenaI wouldn't trust my brother if I were you. But keep reading, you'll see for yourself.
wait wait, can you confirm that or not?

No streaks. No points.

No counters turning reading into homework. Just pushy people who want to talk about the chapter.

Zero spoilers, by design.

They're one chapter ahead of you at most. They can't ruin what they haven't read.

Permission to quit.

If the book isn't working, they'll say so to your face and find you another one. Life's too short for bad books.
