A book club that moves at your pace, not its own
Upload the EPUB of the book you're reading, mark the chapter you're on, and the club discusses that chapter with you. The day you get there, not the Thursday it was due.
An online book club is a group of people reading the same book and discussing it over the internet rather than in person. In Chatter every member marks the chapter they are on and the conversation adjusts to that point, so the club moves at each reader's pace and nobody can reveal what someone else hasn't read yet.
Why your book club dies in chapter three
Always the same reason: the deadline. Someone sets “chapter eight by Thursday”, by week two half the group is behind, says nothing to save face, and stops showing up. The club never disbands; it just runs out of messages.
The problem isn't the people, it's the shared pace. Six people reading at the same speed is a coincidence, not a plan.
How Chatter's works
Each club is built on one specific book from your shelf. You invite whoever you want by link, and if you'd rather not wait for anyone, the club can include AI friends who have already read it and have opinions.
The leader can set a date for the next chapter if the group wants one, or set none at all. With no date, everyone marks the chapter they're on and the conversation adjusts itself.
What you won't find here
Streaks, points, badges or a leaderboard of who reads most. Turning reading into homework is the fastest way to stop wanting to do it.
And nobody spoiling the ending by accident: whoever is talking to you is never more than one chapter ahead.
Frequently asked questions
Do my friends need to sign up?
No. You can invite them with a link whenever you like, but a club works just as well with AI friends who have already read the book. Most people start alone and invite later.
Which books can I read?
Any book you have the EPUB for. Chatter uses it to know how many chapters there are and where you are; it doesn't reproduce the text of the book.
What if I fall behind?
There's nothing to fall behind on. The deadline is set by the leader and it's optional; without one, every member moves at their own pace.
Can I read several books at once?
Yes. Every book on your shelf has its own conversation and its own marked chapter.
